Annual sales of the Florida State Wildflower specialty license tag for
six full years show that an average of 17,602 tags have been sold
annually. With $15 proceeds for each sale, an average of $264,032
annually has been made available for native wildflowers and plants,
totaling more than $2 million.
More than 50 new specialty license plates have hit the market since the
Wildflower Specialty Tag first began sales in May 2001. Competition was
intense among the 109 specialty plates on sale in Florida in 2007,
including those for universities, professional sports teams, and
environmental and social concerns and causes.
Sales of the wildflower tag increased for four consecutive years from
2002 before peaking in 2005 with 19,137 sales. Slight decreases in
sales occurred in 2006 and 2007. Among 109 specialty plates distributed
by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), the
State Wildflower tag ranked 30th in 2007.
