 Got questions? We’ve got answers!

QUESTION: What does the tag cost?

ANSWER: The tag is $15 more than purchasing a regular Florida tag.

Q: Why is an extra $15 charged?

A: By purchasing a State Wildflower tag, you are actually making a $15 tax-deductible donation to the not-for-profit Florida Wildflower Foundation.

Q: What does the Foundation do with my $15 donation?

A: The Foundation uses the money donated through the tag to fund native Florida wildflower research, education and planting projects. Your donation also includes a Florida Wildflower Foundation membership.

Q: Are all specialty tags $15 more than regular license tags?

A: Actually, most specialty tags are $25 more. The State Wildflower plate is one of a handful of specialty plates that is just $15. Keep in mind, though, that you are donating that $15 to a great cause!

Q: What if I want my State Wildflower license tag now but my present tag has not yet expired?

A: At any time, you can use the link above to purchase your new State Wildflower tag. Or, you can purchase the new tag at your local tag office.

Q: I went to my tag office, but I did not see the State Wildflower tag on the wall or in the license plate samples book.

A: There are more than 100 specialty license plates now sold in Florida, so it can be hard to find the State Wildflower tag among them. Just tell your clerk you would like flower power – the State Wildflower license tag!

Q: I have a personalized or “vanity” tag. Can I still get the State Wildflower license plate?

A: Yes! The State Wildflower tag’s center-logo design can accommodate up to seven letters and a space or hyphen. For more information on personalized tags, click here.

Q: Where can I learn more about switching to the State Wildflower specialty plate?

A: Go to the Florida Department of Motor Vehicle’s Web site, or call your local tax collector’s office.

Q: The tag’s flower doesn’t look like our state flower to me. What is it?

A: Artist Bill Celander of Tallahassee, who designed the tag, artistically enhanced the flower to make it more vivid and visible. It depicts coreopsis tinctoria, which belongs to the family of coreopsis, our state flower.
